Chapter-6
Something between us?
After everything that had happened between them, life genuinely started feeling like a fairytale.
Not the perfect kind.
The messy kind.
The kind where there were too many late night talks, too many accidental touches, too many moments that quietly started feeling permanent.
But the strangest part?
They still were not a couple.
No confession.
No label.
Nothing official.
And maybe that was exactly what confused Saarya the most.
Because sometimes Saarth made her feel like she meant everything to him.
And sometimes?
Like she meant absolutely nothing.
When nobody was around, he became different.
Softer.
He noticed little things.
Held her hand naturally.
Looked at her like she was the only person around.
Memorised her moods without asking.
Stayed close without needing reasons.
But the moment people entered the picture…
Everything changed.
Suddenly he became normal again.
He roasted her.
Ignored her randomly.
Acted like nothing serious existed between them.
Sometimes Saarya genuinely sat there wondering,
“Did I imagine all of it?”
Because this boy could kiss her one day and then act emotionally unavailable the next.
And honestly?
That hurt more than she admitted.
Not because she wanted public drama.
Not because she wanted everyone to know.
She just wanted consistency.
Something that told her,
“Yes, what you feel is real.”
But Saarth was impossible to understand.
He was the type of person who felt things deeply but expressed them horribly.
Flow wala banda.
Jo chal raha hai chalne do.
And somewhere inside her heart, Saarya started developing expectations she never admitted out loud.
Because honestly?
The things happening between them did not feel normal anymore.
The kisses.
The forehead touches.
The random late night attachment.
The comfort.
So naturally she thought,
“Maybe now he will confess.”
Maybe now this would finally become something real.
But nothing changed.
And still… she stayed.
One night during a deep late conversation, both of them somehow started talking about their exes.
The topic came casually.
But the emotions behind it were anything but casual.
Saarya admitted quietly that there had been someone before.
“He was actually nice,” she said softly.
“Mujhe laga tha maybe I could fall for him… but he cheated.”
There was silence for a second.
Then she laughed weakly.
“Red flags handle kar lungi. Toxic banda bhi. But cheating? Never.”
And honestly, she meant it.
Saarya was the kind of girl who could survive bad behaviour for the person she loved.
Fight for them.
Stay loyal through chaos.
But betrayal?
That destroyed something permanently inside her.
After listening quietly for a while, Saarth finally opened up too.
There was a girl once.
Her name was Aashi.
And the way Saarth spoke about her immediately told Saarya everything.
He had loved that girl deeply.
Painfully deeply.
But he also admitted something else.
He was toxic with her.
Not intentionally maybe.
But enough to hurt her badly.
One story especially stayed with Saarya.
One day he had brought cupcakes for Aashi. But she got late because some people were bothering her outside.
And instead of listening calmly…
He shouted at her.
Badly.
“She was crying and I still kept fighting,” he admitted quietly.
Saarya stayed silent after hearing that.
Because suddenly pieces started connecting inside her head.
Maybe this was genuinely who Saarth became when emotions got too intense.
Anger.
Temper.
Harsh reactions.
At first she tried defending him inside her own mind.
“Maybe he was hurt.”
“Maybe he did not mean it.”
But slowly she realised…
No.
This was simply a part of him.
And honestly?
That scared her.
For the first time, a tiny fear entered her heart.
“What if one day he hurts me too?”
But despite all that… she did not leave.
Because loving Saarth had already become bigger than fear.
Even when she noticed Aashi was still pinned on his Snapchat.
Even when she realised he had not fully moved on.
Even when she understood that some part of him still lived in the past.
And somewhere deep down, Saarya knew something else too.
Something painful.
If Aashi ever came back…
She would leave quietly.
Not because Saarth would ask her to.
But because she knew he had loved Aashi in a way he had probably never loved anyone else.
Saarya could feel it in the way he spoke about her.
In the pauses between his sentences.
In the softness that still existed even after all the hurt.
And honestly?
That broke her a little.
Because no matter how much Saarth smiled with her, laughed with her, kissed her…
Some part of his heart still belonged to someone else.
But Saarya still stayed.
Because love makes people do stupid things.
And maybe the stupidest thing Saarya ever did was loving Saarth while already knowing there was a chance she would never fully have him.
Still…
She chose him.
Every single time.
That night something strange happened.
The conversation started with Saarya’s hurt.
Her cheating trauma.
Her fears.
But somewhere in between, the entire focus shifted towards Saarth’s pain instead.
And somehow… Saarya did not mind.
Because for her, his pain automatically became more important than hers.
So instead of crying about how she got hurt in the past, she ended up comforting him instead.
Listening to him.
Understanding him.
Trying to heal him.
Even while quietly getting hurt herself.
Saarya was genuinely very soft with Saarth.
Too soft maybe.
Because no matter how confusing he became, she always tried understanding him first instead of blaming him.
Sometimes Saarth treated her beautifully.
Like she mattered more than everyone else.
And sometimes?
He behaved like,
“Tu hai kaun?”
Cold replies.
Random irritation.
Dry behaviour in front of people.
Mood swings she never understood.
And honestly, half the time Saarya did not even know what mistake she had made.
But instead of getting angry, she always defended him inside her own head.
“Koi na… maybe he is just like this.”
“Maybe uska mood kharab hoga.”
“Maybe meri hi galti hogi.”
And that slowly became a pattern.
Whenever Saarth acted rude, Saarya secretly cried about it later.
Not loudly.
Not dramatically.
Quiet crying.
The kind where you stare at the ceiling at 3 a.m. wondering why one person suddenly started making your chest hurt this much.
But the saddest part?
She never stayed angry at him properly.
Because somehow, after every bad moment, Saarth would unknowingly do one tiny soft thing that fixed everything again.
A random late night text.
Holding her hand naturally.
Looking at her softly when nobody was around.
Walking her home.
One forehead kiss.
One “hanji?” in that voice.
And bas.
Saarya melted again instantly.
No proper apology.
No deep conversation.
No “sorry.”
But she forgave him anyway.
Every single time.
Because she loved him so much that even the smallest affection from him felt enough to heal all the hurt he caused.
And honestly?
That was the dangerous part.
Saarth never really had to ask for forgiveness.
Because Saarya always came back on her own.

Activa Ride
After all the emotional conversations and confusion between them, one thing never changed.
Bakchodi.
No matter kitni deep baatein ho jaayein, Saarth aur Saarya end mein ek dusre ki beizzati hi karte the.
And honestly?
That was their comfort zone.
So one day after college, Saarya started her usual drama.
“Late hojayegi yaar.”
And Saarth casually replied,
“Chhod deta hu.”
Bas.
Simple sentence.
But Saarya internally?
Full happy.
Because effort mattered to her more than words ever did.
Saarth somehow arranged an activa and both of them left together after college.
The whole route was just nonstop bakchodi.
No filmy romance.
No dramatic silence.
Bas dono ek dusre ko roast kar rahe the.
“Tu itna bolti kaise hai?”
“Tu itna irritating kyu hai?”
“Sidhi baith pagal.”
“Tu sidha chala pehle.”
Saarya got shy sometimes around him now.
Especially after everything that had happened between them.
But Saarth?
Zero shame.
Pure teasing mode always.
The roads were almost empty and the cold air somehow made everything feel calmer.
At one point Saarth was driving too fast and Saarya genuinely got scared.
“SAARTH SLOW.”
“Girne nhi dunga,” he laughed.
And annoyingly enough, that line stayed in her head longer than it should have.
During one turn, Saarth held her hand slightly for balance while driving.
Very normal gesture probably.
But for Saarya?
Nothing about him felt normal anymore.
And then somewhere during the ride, Saarth suddenly kissed her cheek quickly.
Just a small cheek kiss.
But Saarya literally froze.
“SAARTH.”
“What?” he started laughing instantly.
“Sidha chala pehle.”
And he kept laughing seeing her flustered reaction.
That was the thing about them.
No matter how romantic moments became, they somehow turned stupid again within seconds.
And maybe that is why Saarya loved being around him so much.
Because with Saarth, things never felt forced.
Near her house, they slowed down a little near that stupid pothole on the road and Saarth again looked towards her with that teasing expression.
That expression which always made her nervous.
Another quick kiss.
“Pagal hai kya?” Saarya laughed while pushing him lightly.
At one point she even tried taking a picture because somewhere deep down she already knew she would remember this ride for a very long time.
And before leaving, she moved slightly closer subconsciously.
Saarth instantly noticed.
“Khush? Mil gaya reason chipakne ka?”
“Shut up.”
But both of them were smiling.
Ghar jaake mummy ne daanta bhi bohot because she got late.
But honestly?
Saarya barely cared.
Because that night was never really about the activa ride.
It was about how simple moments with Saarth had started becoming her favourite part of life.
